Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) winner SPUN TO RUN sees four yearlings from his first crop go through the ring at the Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearlings sale with all four going through the ring on August 14.
The first through the ring is Hip 437 out of Storm Swept and offered by Paramount Sales. Storm Swept has three foals of racing age with the mare producing multiple stakes performer Drinking Again and two-time winner Margoinabubblebath from her two to race. Drinking Again added another stakes placing to his name after the catalog was released
Bred by Dark Horse Legends Racing, the colt’s second dam is the dam of stakes winner and Grade 2 placed Changing Weather and the stakes performers Xtra Jack and Sindy Jacobson. Her daughters have also produced the stakes winning duo of Behave Virginia and El Capricho. There are stakes performers under all three dams with 17 stakes winners and a further seven stakes performers named on the page.
Hip 521 offered by Gainesway is a half-sister to three winners from four to race with one of her siblings winning again after the catalog was released. Their dam A Cut Ahead is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Bryan’s Jewel and to the dam of Grade 3-placed Blessed Touch. Another half-sister produced stakes performer Amidships.
Bred by Pioneer Ventures, this filly also sees champion and Grade 1 winner Left Bank and Grade 1 winner Lucifer’s Stone named under her first three dams.
Consigned by Turning Point Bloodstock, a colt out of Frisky Kitten goes through the ring as Hip 620. A placed runner by Kitten’s Joy, Frisky Kitten has produced multiple stakes winner Chasing Artie from her two to race with that runner winning five races.
This colt’s third dam is the champion Chopinina, who also produced the stakes placed Merkabah while his fourth dam is the stakes winning Lady Aloma. Three of this colt’s first four dams have produced stakes performers with the only non-stakes producer on the page the dam of four winners.
SPUN TO RUN’s final through the ring is a half-brother to the multiple stakes winner and Grade 3-placed Mrs. Orb. Offered as Hip 634 by breeder Sequel Thoroughbreds, the colt’s dam Gypsy Angel is a half-sister to champion Hakeem and stakes winner Let’s Go Cheyenne in addition to the Grade 3 placed Southern Ridge.
The dam of three runners herself, Gypsy Angel is also a half-sister to the dams of Grade 1 winner There Goes Harvard and Killer Graces. Killer Graces is also a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Chocolate Ride and the stakes placed Rockin Heather.
SPUN TO RUN has had a good start to the yearling sales season with his first crop selling for $200,000, $125,000, etc. for a $118,750 average.
