TAPIT scored another 2-year-old stakes winner this year when his daughter Lovestruck stayed perfect in the Tepin Stakes at Aqueduct. The Bill Mott trainee, who was last seen winning her debut at Saratoga, was sent off as the favorite amongst her seven rivals in the 8.5 furlong test on the good turf course. Under jockey Junior Alvarado, Lovestruck tracked the pace from the inside pocket and then angled out three wide in the upper stretch. She kept to her task making headway and pulling off to a length victory over Invincible Gal (GB).
Owned and bred by Godolphin, the daughter of TAPIT is a half sister to the late and great sire Scat Daddy, out of the Mr. Prospector mare Love Style. TAPIT‘s cross with the Mr. Prospector line has produced Grade 1 winners like Constitution, Dance Card, Pretty City Dancer, Ring Weekend, Zazu, and the undefeated early Kentucky Derby favorite Essential Quality.
Lovestruck was TAPIT‘s third stakes winner over the Thanksgiving weekend, led by Mrs. Danvers taking the Comely (G3) on Friday, and Nitrous dominating the Thanksgiving Classic S. Thursday, bumping his lifetime earnings over half a million dollars.
