MCKINZIE has been on-fire on the track and this week at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, his yearlings were popular with buyers in the first two books.
A Gainesway consigned colt brought $950,000 from Donato Lanni on behalf of SF, Starlight, and Madaket during the third session to be the fourth most expensive of the day. The colt is the second foal out of the three-time winning mare Take Charge Angel, whose first runner in one start after the catalog was released.
Take Charge Angel is a half-sister to the dual Grade 1 winner Cave Rock and two other winners out of the Grade 3 winning Georgie’s Angel. There are stakes performers under three of the four dams on the page with two of those dams producing at least two stakes winners.
That ownership group also purchased a $300,000 MCKINZIE colt from the same session as the buyer on a colt out of That’s a Lady.
MCKINIZE also saw a colt out of This is War sell for $370,000 during Thursday’s session.
Sold to Kimmel/Sallusto as agent for Sean Flanagan, the colt consigned by Colin Brennan Bloodstock is a half-brother to the stakes winning Orbs Baby Girl. Their dam This Is War was a winner on the track and is a 100% producer of winners from three to race. Second dam Ask Me When is the dam of the stakes winners and graded stakes placed trio of Miss Dracarys, Aristocratic, and Up The Ante and the grandam of stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Epic Ride.
MCKINZIE’S four sold in the first two books averaged $495,000 with a $365,000 median.
