KARAKONTIE’s first offering at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale was a popular one when Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Gary Barber, and Bridlewood Farm teamed up to buy a $525,000 filly from the Gainesway consignment.
The filly is the second out of the stakes-placed Smart Emma, whose juvenile by KARAKONTIE is named Memorialize. That filly was an impressive three length victress at Saratoga on August 20 in her second start after finishing second on debut. Smart Emma also has a KARAKONTIE weanling colt.
Smart Emma is a half-sister to the stakes winning Kagura with the duo out of Group 3 winner Miss Emma. Miss Emma is a full sister to the stakes-placed Miss Serendipity out of a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Sedulous and stakes winner Tapolite. Those under Sedulous’s name include Group 1 winner Shirocco among others.
The sire of two stakes winners and six stakes performers in 2023, KARAKONTIE has 11 more on offer throughout the sale over the next week.
