It was a pair of $300,000 juveniles leading the way for OLYMPIAD during the OBS March 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale this week to kick off the 2-year-old sale season.
Breezing in :9.4 during the Under Tack Show, the Omar Ramirez Bloodstock-offered Hip 419 sold to Bill Childs during the second session.
This colt is a half-brother to two to race out of the First Defence mare Tactical Move. That mare is a half-sister to TAPIT’s Grade 2-placed Coliseum and the dam of Grade 2 winner Turnerloose and granddam of stakes winner Kentucky Outlaw, but even more importantly – she is a daughter of Grade 1 winner Game Face.
This is a proven stakes family with three of the colt’s first four dams producing stakes performers with two producing stakes winners.
Justin Casse and Carriganog went to $300,000 to secure Hip 637, a filly offered by RiceHorse Stable.
A :10.0 breezer, the International Equities Holding-bred filly is a half-sister to two winners from four to race out of Tale of the Cat’s California Spirit. That mare is a half-sister to Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 placed Protonico with the page getting even better from there.
This filly’s third dam is the Chile Horse of the Year Wild Spirit who not only produced stakes winner Diva Spirit and stakes placed Wild Zambezi but is also the granddam of multiple stakes winner and Grade 1-placed Pioneering Spirit.
OLYMPIAD’s studmate MCKINZIE also had a popular offering when DJ Stable purchased a colt for $400,000 from Top Line Sales.
A $285,000 Keeneland September purchase, the Ontario-bred from the Jim Dandy Stable breeding program is a grandson of the multiple stakes winning Starship Angel. This page has five stakes winners and two other stakes performers on it, with Starship Angel’s dam a full sister to the stakes placed In Joe’s Honor.
That dam is also one of three stakes performers out of two-time winner Daunserly.
The next OBS Sale takes place in just over a month with the Spring 2-Year-Olds In Training Dale on April 14 – 17.
