KARAKONTIE only had one offering at the Fasig-Tipton New York Bred Sale, but that colt was a hot commodity, selling to Repole Stable for $300,000.
Bred by Fortune Farms and Mill Creek Farm and coming from Gainesway’s consignment, the yearling is the first offering out of Candy Ride mare Easter Egg. Hailing from the family of champion Good Magic, she is a half-sister to three winners out of stakes winner and Grade 2 placed Flash Forward.
That mare is one of six stakes winners and two other stakes performers from 14 winners out of the winning Miswaki mare Magical Flash. That mare also produced Grade 3 winner Take the Ribbon and stakes winners Flash Mash, Glinda The Good, Bright Magic, and Hot War.
Glinda The Good in turned produced Good Magic while Take the Ribbon’s daughter Deep Satin placed a close second in the Ballston Spa S. (G2) just days before this colt sold. Take The Ribbon is also the dam of Grade 1-placed Bookrunner and stakes placed Take These Chains in addition to being the granddam of Grade 3 winner Love and Thunder.
In all, Magical Flash’s daughters and granddaughters produced 16 stakes performers.
KARAKONTIE has 10 stakes performers this year, led by Grade 1 winner She Feels Pretty.
