It was a $195,000 yearling filly to lead the way for DRAIN THE CLOCK in the final yearling sale of the season this week at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale when Belladonna Racing purchased the filly from Sheppell Thoroughbreds.
This Ohio-bred filly received an update before going through the ring when her dam’s first foal to race won her debut at Saratoga in a Maiden Special Weight. That dam is the winning Bellamy Road mare Bellamy Rose, who comes from a solid family. Her dam is the stakes winning I Bet Toni Knows, who has produced two other winners, led by Grade 2 winner Toinette.
I Bet Toni Knows isn’t the only stakes winner for her own dam with that one’s five winners including dual stakes winner Possessed and her other winners led by the 10-time winning River Monster.
Gervais Racing was the buyer of a $165,000 Louisiana-bred offered by Lane’s End on behalf of Coteau Grove Farms.
That filly was one with a big update when her Grade 2 winning half-sister Margie’s Intention added even more Grade 1 form to the page with a third in the Alabama S. (G1) before finishing third against her elders in the Beldame S. (G2) as well. The other two of racing age out of the yearling’s Into Mischief dam include four-time winner Helaire and three-time winner Court Jester. The mare is following in her dam’s footsteps with the stakes winning Dance Hall Days producing six winners from eight to race.
The family is strong all around with Dance Hall Days one of three stakes performers out of Dance Move, who is the dam of Grade 1 winner Cat Moves and granddam of Grade 1 winner Hootenanny. Dance Move has created a strong legacy with her branch of the family tree having nine stakes winners and nine other stakes performers.
DRAIN THE CLOCK saw other yearlings sell for $140,000 and $110,000 at this sale with all 28 on offering finding new owners to end the season with his first crop selling for up to $270,000.
