Trio of seven-figure Tapit yearlings at Keeneland session

Tapit’s yearlings continued to be some of the most sought-after lots during the third day of the Keeneland September sale, with bidders going above the $1 million mark on three separate occasions during the Sept. 14 session.

Topping the trio was Hip 561, a colt consigned by Eaton Sales, agent, that went for $2 million to Bridlewood Farm and M.V. Magnier. The colt’s stakes-winning dam, Ponche de Leona, has already produced Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) winner Mucho Macho Man.

Hip 582, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, was the top-priced filly of the session when Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm placed a winning bid of $1.4 million. The filly’s dam, Quiet Giant, is a Grade 2 winner and the dam of top 2016 3-year-old colt Gun Runner.

Hip 583, also consigned by Taylor Made and bought by Whisper Hill, sold for $1.1 million. The filly is out of Fair Grounds Oaks (G2) winner Quiet Temper.

Through the first three days of Keeneland September, Tapit leads all sires with more than one lot sold by average of $662,857.
