Salute With Honor is freshman sire’s sixth winner

Gainesway’s freshman sire To Honor and Serve racked up his sixth juvenile winner Oct. 15 when his son Salute With Honor won a Gulfstream Park West maiden special weight in his debut.

Trained by Eddie Plesa Jr. and ridden by Luca Panici, Salute With Honor reveled in the sloppy conditions, leading his five rivals throughout the six furlongs and winning by 2¾ lengths in 1:12.36. Favored Mr. Atila finished second and Golden Diamond, third.

Salute With Honor is a Florida-homebred for Live Oak Plantation, which raced multiple Grade 1 winner To Honor and Serve throughout his career.

Salute With Honor’s dam, Live Oak homebred Snow Cone (by Cryptoclearance), won several stakes on the Florida circuit and is a three-quarter sister to Live Oak stakes winner Devotion Unbridled (by Unbridled).

Salute With Honor is inbred 5×3 to Fappiano through Quiet American—the broodmare sire of To Honor and Serve’s Preakness-winning sire Bernardini—and Florida Derby (G1) winner Cryptoclearance.
