Winter Sunset, a 2-year-old daughter of Tapit, impressed in her unveiling with a 4¼-length front-running victory Nov. 29 at Fair Grounds.

Jockey Channing Hill guided first-time starter Winter Sunset straight to the lead at the start of the 7½-furlong turf contest, and the gray filly shook off all challengers to draw away comfortably in the stretch (VIDEO).

Winter Sunset was named a “TDN Rising Star” for her performance and is Tapit’s sixth runner to earn that moniker in 2018.

Wayne Catalano trains Winter Sunset for Coffeepot Stables, which co-owns the filly with breeder Phillips Racing Partnership. The filly was produced from Phillips’ millionaire turf mare Winter Memories (by El Prado), winner of the 2011 Garden City Stakes (G1) and 2012 Diana Stakes (G1).
